(RTTNews) - Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (ALNY) has formed a collaboration with Inceptive Nucleics, Inc., a biotechnology firm powered by artificial intelligence, through an agreement that could reach nearly $2 billion in value.

This alliance blends Alnylam's deep knowledge of RNA interference therapeutics with Inceptive's foundation models and AI tools to speed the creation and identification of nucleic acid medicines. Alnylam intends to embed Inceptive's generative AI models within its research platform to hasten RNAi discovery and support the pipeline growth targets set in its Alnylam 2030 strategy.

The arrangement provides Alnylam with direct access to Inceptive's AI specialists and leadership, including CEO Jakob Uszkoreit, a co-inventor of the Transformer architecture that supports today's generative AI systems.

Under the agreement terms, Inceptive will obtain a $30 million upfront payment and stands to receive further funds linked to preclinical, regulatory, and commercial sales milestones.

Alnylam shares closed at $292.58 on Wednesday and rose more than 2% in after-hours trading.
