Bringing Sands team members together to pack 5,000 food kits
Spreading the Sands Cares spirit across the Macao community
Advancing healthy eating in line with the SAR government's Healthy Community push

/PRNewswire/ -- Sands China once again highlighted its dedication to community service on Wednesday by staging the Sands Cares Global Food Kit Build for the fifth consecutive year. This volunteer program, run annually by parent company Las Vegas Sands Corp., drew nearly 450 people to The Venetian Macao Cotai Expo. Participants included representatives from social service groups, Sands China Sands Cares Ambassadors, additional team members, and Las Vegas Sands executives. Working side by side, they prepared 5,000 food kits for distribution to residents in need via Caritas Macau, reflecting the company's firm focus on corporate social responsibility and sustained support for the Macao community.

The event received full backing from the Social Welfare Bureau and the Health Bureau of the Macao SAR government. This edition achieved new highs in both attendance and the quantity of kits assembled.

Patrick Dumont, chairman and chief executive officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp. and chairman and non-executive director of Sands China Ltd., joined the activity in person. He worked alongside team members from 34 Sands China departments and local partners to pack kits for underprivileged residents. The lively setting highlighted the unified effort of Sands China staff in serving the community.

The 5,000 kits totaled 30 tons. Each contained 11 items sourced from local SMEs, such as rice, cooking oil, egg noodles, biscuits, and soup packs supplied by Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society. Recipe cards promoting nutritious meals, created by Caritas Macau and Sands China's food and beverage team with input from Health Bureau nutritionists, were also included. This addition aims to encourage healthy eating habits in support of the Macao SAR government's Healthy Community initiative and the Healthy Macao Blueprint.

Marking its fifth year in Macao and its biggest scale yet, our leadership returned to join Sands China colleagues and partners in preparing 5,000 kits for local residents. Combined with efforts in other regions, the program will deliver 51,000 kits worldwide this year. This shared spirit of service unites us as one family to create greater community impact."

The initiative has now supplied nearly 17,000 kits to the Macao community overall. This year's kits will be delivered by Sands Cares Ambassadors from July to August to 34 Caritas Macau facilities in districts including Fai Chi Kei, Praia do Manduco, Iao Hon, Ilha Verde and Coloane, then passed on to elderly residents and those in need.

The event was officiated by Tang Yuk Wa, deputy director of the Social Welfare Bureau; Wong Weng Man, acting head of the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control of the Health Bureau; Judy Chiang It Sin, service director of Caritas Macau; Angela Ou, chairman of the General Volunteers Association of Macao; Lai Seung Yuet, financial general of the Association of Volunteer Social Service Macao; Heidi Ho, principal secretary of the Young Men's Christian Association of Macau; Patrick Dumont; Dr. Wilfred Wong, executive vice chairman of Sands China Ltd.; Grant Chum, chief executive officer and executive director of Sands China Ltd.; Hubert Wang, chief operating officer of Sands China Ltd.; and other Sands China executives.

Sands China also awarded community service certificates to 70 volunteers from local organizations, aged 13 to 80, honoring their contributions and encouraging wider volunteer participation. The four groups involved were Caritas Macau's Longevity Special Care Centre, the General Volunteers Association of Macao, Association of Volunteer Social Service Macao, and Young Men's Christian Association of Macau.

Sands China started the Sands Cares Ambassador Programme in 2009, the first integrated resort operator in Macao to form a volunteer team. More than 4,000 team members have participated, logging over 362,000 service hours and underscoring the company's lasting dedication to corporate social responsibility and community support.

Launched in 2022 by Las Vegas Sands Corp., the Sands Cares Global Food Kit Build takes place each year across Sands' global sites including Macao, Singapore and Las Vegas. The program assembles and distributes food kits to beneficiaries of local social service organizations. It forms one of three global Sands Cares efforts, alongside the Sands Cares Global Hygiene Kit Build with Clean the World and the Sands Cares Accelerator for advancing non-profit impact.

Through these programs, the Sands Cares corporate citizenship initiative directs philanthropic activities worldwide, supporting communities in areas such as hardship relief, disaster response, education, heritage preservation and partner development. Over the years the program has launched many initiatives to give back and has worked with local charities to help create more harmonious and inclusive communities.
