Angelalign has already replaced Torque Ridges with an upgraded Pressure Points system in Europe

/PRNewswire/ -- Angelalign Technology Inc. (6699.HK) (Angel), a company focused on innovations in clear aligner orthodontic technology, stated today that the ruling from the local Paris division of the Unified Patent Court on the Torque Ridges design element does not impact the availability of its products in Europe, which already incorporate next-generation tooth torque control technology.

Angel has already stopped using Torque Ridges in Europe and replaced them with an updated design feature called Pressure Points. Launched on the European market in September, Pressure Points were created to enhance tooth torque control and reflect Angel's ongoing commitment to innovation aimed at addressing orthodontists' clinical challenges. The court decision does not affect Angel's clients in Spain, the United Kingdom, and outside Europe, including the Americas and Asia. Angel continually develops new solutions to deliver superior service to its clients.

Today the court ruled that the Torque Ridges design element infringes a patent owned by Align Technology Inc. (ALGN) for changing a patient's tooth positions according to an orthodontic treatment plan. Angel disagrees with this ruling and is carefully reviewing it while assessing next steps. Angel will comply with the court decision, including returning any goods. Since Torque Ridges are no longer offered in Europe, orthodontists using Angel's products and services can continue treating patients with Pressure Points and Angel's ongoing clinical and technical support.

Our priority is to equip orthodontists with everything needed to deliver excellent patient care, said Xavier Cherbavaz, General Manager and Vice President of Angelalign Technology Inc. for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Torque Ridges are no longer used in Europe and have been replaced by Pressure Points, which are designed to support controlled force application and tooth contact. We remain focused on providing orthodontists with innovative clinical solutions and a reliable client experience.

Angel takes intellectual property rights seriously and ensures it does not infringe on valid patents, added Richard Hirschland, Commercial Director and Senior Vice President of Angel. We are carefully examining the court's reasoning and will consider all available options for this matter. Angel will continue to innovate and improve its products for the benefit of dental service providers and their patients, despite litigation from a competitor. Continuous innovation means anticipating issues and preparing solutions to protect the client experience. Our shift to the Pressure Points system reflects this commitment. We are determined to keep developing innovative solutions so orthodontists can rely on Angel long term.
