Group aims to engage 2,500 churches, synagogues and groups globally to plant 3 million flags during yearly remembrance activities

, /PRNewswire/ -- The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (The Fellowship) has revealed the return of its yearly Flags of Fellowship (FOF) drive, a commemorative program observing the October 7, 2023 Hamas assaults on Israel, featuring memorial gatherings planned at more than 1,500 churches, universities, and synagogues around the world during the period near October 7. The Fellowship expects to reach over 2,500 participants for this edition.

Marking its third year, Flags of Fellowship serves to pay tribute to the victims, hostages, heroes, and families touched by the assaults, while offering Christians, congregations and community leaders a visible and vocal method to show backing for Israel amid the sharp global increase in anti-Semitism.

Groups taking part will set up areas with 1,200 small Israeli flags on their properties, each representing a life lost on that tragic day as well as a clear gesture of solidarity and firm support for Israel. Numerous groups will also organize special FOF services and events to observe the third anniversary of the assaults.

Global involvement in the effort has expanded this year already, with notable interest from churches across Latin America, Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom and India, and additional sign-ups expected.

In the prior year, more than 1,350 groups across North America and 10 other nations joined the Flags of Fellowship drive, leading to over 1.5 million flags placed worldwide during local events, worship services, and community meetings. If the target of 2,500-plus groups is reached this year, the total will rise to more than 3 million flags.

Churches, synagogues, universities and groups around the world are invited to sign up for the Flags of Fellowship drive by Sunday, September 13.

Following the assaults of October 7, 2023, The Fellowship has dedicated more than half a billion dollars in support to meet continuing emergency requirements in Israel and sustain aid in its main program areas, such as emergency food, water, gear for first responders and security staff, aliyah assistance for olim, and other vulnerable populations affected by the war and persistent conflict.
