Diplomats, scholars, and policymakers representing over 80 nations assembled in Beijing this week at the 14th World Peace Forum. Speakers highlighted the necessity of deeper worldwide partnerships to tackle mounting geopolitical strains along with novel security concerns.

Convened around the theme Global Governance and International Security Cooperation: Integrity, Innovation, and Inclusiveness, the gathering drew more than 400 attendees who examined topics such as Middle East conflicts, reforms in global governance, relations among major powers, and the security effects of new technologies including artificial intelligence in warfare, highlighting attention to both immediate geopolitical pressures and modern defense challenges.

Co-hosted by Tsinghua University and the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, the forum has established itself as a premier nongovernmental venue in China for dialogue on international security.

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng delivered the keynote address at the opening ceremony on July 3. Tsinghua University President Li Luming offered welcoming comments. The session was led by Yang Bin, Vice Chancellor of the Tsinghua University Council and Secretary-General of the World Peace Forum.

Prominent speakers featured Mushahid Hussain Sayed, former Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee of Pakistan and former Chairman of the Senate Defence Committee of Pakistan; Kim Sung-Hwan, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea; Hina Rabbani Khar, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan; Abdel Elah Al Khatib, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan; and Gareth Evans, former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia.

Serving as a key venue for international security discussions, the World Peace Forum fosters greater mutual comprehension and joint approaches to worldwide issues. Its stress on collective accountability underscores the lasting value of multilateral engagement amid evolving global power balances.

The occasion drew notable press coverage, with more than 200 journalists from over 70 domestic and foreign media organizations present. Via transparent and productive international exchanges, the World Peace Forum remains an essential platform for promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development around the world.
