Free educational program will explore the latest advances in diagnosis, treatment, clinical trials, nutrition, and supportive care

Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer (DDF) is joining forces with Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital to present Understanding Gastroesophageal Cancer: A Patient and Community Symposium. The program takes place on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ET at Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. This no-cost educational session will also stream online, opening access to participants and families worldwide.

Created for individuals living with gastroesophageal cancers along with caregivers, clinicians, and local residents, the symposium delivers current details on early detection, diagnosis, treatment choices, clinical trials, nutrition, wellness, and supportive services. Attendees will hear personal stories from those affected by the disease and wrap up with an interactive Ask the Experts panel where a team of specialists answers questions.

Education ranks among the strongest resources for people confronting stomach and gastroesophageal cancers, said Amanda Pullinger, Chief Executive Officer of Debbie's Dream Foundation. Collaborations such as this one with Yale Cancer Center help link patients, caregivers, families, and professionals to reliable experts and the newest evidence-based guidance. The symposium is led by Raghav Sundar, MD, PhD, whose clinical and research work centers on improving outcomes for gastroesophageal cancer patients.
