The Carlson Law Firm is examining possible claims connected to reports of sexual misconduct and improper medical practices during treatment at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida and invites other current or former patients who may have faced similar issues to contact the firm.

The firm represents an unnamed active-duty service member who claims a sexual assault took place during a medical procedure performed in early 2025 at the base hospital by Maj. Joseph Cook, a military physician specializing in gastroenterology.

The client received what was presented as a standard hemorrhoid banding procedure expected to be brief and straightforward. During the appointment the client states the physician placed fingers into her vagina as part of a follow-up digital examination, repeated the action, and then moved to a rectal examination without providing any explanation. The client also states the physician failed to change gloves between the contacts, which raises serious hygiene issues.

Military prosecutors later chose not to pursue a court-martial even though the physician reportedly admitted during the inquiry that contact had occurred yet did not discuss it with the patient at the time.

The client then retained The Carlson Law Firm to seek accountability through civil channels.
