/CNW/ - With summer and National OHV Safety Week on the horizon, Can-Am, an iconic brand of BRP Inc. (TSX: DOO) (NASDAQ: DOO), invites all off-roaders to make safety a priority on the trails all season long. Safe riding forms a key part of the Can-Am experience and, through BRP's Responsible Rider Program, the team aims to help riders enjoy their time responsibly whether on the trail, working the land, on the dunes or circling a track.

Responsible riding extends past rule-following. It safeguards trail access, eases tensions with fellow outdoor users, lessens environmental effects and keeps the outdoors open for future generations.

To support this goal, Can-Am and BRP partnered with Tread Lightly! on the Responsible Rider Masterclass 101 series. This set of free online courses helps riders adopt a safer and more responsible powersports lifestyle.

BRP and Tread Lightly! introduced the Responsible Rider Masterclass in February 2025 starting with Snow 101. Water 101 and Off-Road 101 followed. The Off-Road 101 course covers Safety, Rider Behavior and Environmental stewardship. It gives off-roaders at every level the tools to ride responsibly and set a positive example. The brief free online training uses Tread Lightly! staff along with Can-Am ambassadors Terry Madden and Kira Block to present the material in an engaging and clear way.

6 Tips to Ride Responsibly All Summer Long

Although SSVs, UTVs and ATVs are sturdy and dependable, safety habits lower the chance of avoidable mishaps. Consider these key points:

Gear Up - Wear your helmet, gloves, eye protection and any other needed safety items. Buckle your seat belt as soon as you enter the vehicle.
Stay on the Trail - Keep to marked trails to protect delicate areas. Drive over small obstacles rather than around them to prevent trail widening.
Be Respectful - Maintain distance, yield to smaller, slower or uphill riders, reduce dust and limit noise near homes.
Ride Smart - Know your machine, read the terrain and stay within your abilities.
Ride Alert and Sober - Alcohol or drugs never mix with trail riding at any time.
Pack out What you Pack in - Bring a trash bag and leave each trailhead cleaner than you found it.
