Contributions will supply direct aid to families hit by the fire via Angeleno Cards, food distribution, air purifiers, and additional vital supplies routed through reliable local partners

/PRNewswire/ -- In response to the persistent warehouse fire in Boyle Heights along with emergency declarations from the City of Los Angeles and the State of California, the California Community Foundation has activated the CCF Impact Fund to deliver immediate support to impacted residents.

The blaze, which started Wednesday at a cold storage site on South Los Palos Street, has continued for four days. It prompted repeated shelter-in-place notices and a prolonged Particle Pollution Advisory affecting Boyle Heights, East Los Angeles, and nearby areas. With roughly 85 million pounds of frozen food at risk of spoiling inside the building, officials have flagged a potential biohazard concern during ongoing containment and cleanup efforts. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass declared a local emergency on Saturday, and Governor Gavin Newsom issued a state of emergency for Los Angeles County to bring extra public health and emergency resources to the scene.

For Boyle Heights households, many of which have endured days indoors, lost work time, or tended to family members with smoke-related health issues, the effects reach far past the flames. The CCF Impact Fund aims to address those pressing daily requirements.

Partnering with established community groups already active in Boyle Heights and nearby neighborhoods, CCF will channel fund resources to supply:

Angeleno Cards in partnership with the City of Los Angeles for direct cash help to affected households
Food distribution for residents facing spoiled food, lost wages, or interrupted food access
Air purifiers for homes dealing with smoke and reduced air quality
Other urgent supplies, such as masks, water, and assistance for those displaced

Donations to the CCF Impact Fund will focus on residents' immediate needs. CCF will keep collaborating with city, county, and state agencies, local organizations, and community leaders as efforts move from urgent relief to sustained recovery.
