AMERICAN SKIN ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES FORMATION OF ASA EMERGING DERMATOLOGY LEADERS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The fresh program seeks to involve rising dermatology professionals in efforts to propel research, inform patients, and foster innovation in skin wellness.

/PRNewswire/ -- American Skin Association (ASA) proudly reveals the creation of the American Skin Association Emerging Dermatology Leaders Advisory Committee. This program aims to connect with and develop upcoming experts in the dermatology field. It will offer direction on new research focuses, upcoming treatments, gaps in skin care services, present patterns in skin wellness, and creative methods for educating patients and reaching communities.

The committee embodies ASA's ongoing dedication to keeping fresh scientific progress, clinical insights, and patient requirements at the heart of its activities. Across almost four decades ASA has operated as a top nonprofit group focused on boosting research, promoting skin wellness especially for young people, and increasing public knowledge of skin conditions. ASA along with its partners has granted over 50 million dollars in research funding to push forward therapies and cures for melanoma, vitiligo, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and additional serious skin ailments.

Howard P. Milstein, Chairman of ASA, noted that the ASA Emerging Dermatology Leaders Advisory Committee marks a key step forward for dermatology and for ASA's ongoing development. These doctors contribute wide knowledge, enthusiasm, and fresh viewpoints that will prove useful as ASA explores new research domains, improvements in patient treatment, and novel strategies to inform and involve the public.

Nicholas Brownstone, MD, Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Kimberly and Eric J. Waldman Department of Dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, NY, has been named Chair of the committee.

Dr. Brownstone offers extensive background in clinical dermatology, investigation, and teaching, covering both medical and aesthetic dermatology. His studies have addressed psoriasis, light therapy, eczema, hidradenitis suppurativa, psychodermatology, and skin cancer. He has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and textbooks while presenting at major dermatology meetings. He has also hosted episodes of ASA's podcast series The SKINsight Podcast: A Patient's Guide.

Nicholas Brownstone, MD, stated that as dermatology advances rapidly there exists a valuable chance to incorporate the views of the next wave of physicians into discussions about the field's direction. The committee will enable emerging leaders to collaborate with ASA's Board and executives to pinpoint key scientific prospects, tackle gaps in patient care and education, and introduce fresh concepts to enhance ASA's reach for patients and families.

The committee's six founding members, working with Dr. Brownstone, bring diverse skills across dermatology specialties.

Alongside Dr. Brownstone the founding members will counsel ASA leadership on scientific growth and pipeline therapies in areas such as alopecia areata, hidradenitis suppurativa, vitiligo, inflammatory skin diseases, skin cancer, and aging skin. They will also help spot unmet needs in dermatology research and education while offering guidance on ways to bolster ASA's grant and research programs.

James G. Krueger, MD, PhD, President of ASA, remarked that ASA has long united patients, physicians, scientists, and advocates to move dermatology forward. This new committee extends that approach by establishing a dedicated space for emerging leaders to contribute their insights and shape the scientific and educational goals that will define dermatology going forward.

The launch of the ASA Emerging Dermatology Leaders Advisory Committee highlights ASA's resolve to stay ahead in scientific progress and community involvement while nurturing the next wave of dermatology leaders. By linking rising physician leaders with ASA's established network of scientists, physicians, and advocates the effort seeks to improve the organization's capacity to advance research, broaden education, and enhance lives affected by skin diseases.
