Israeli data-monitoring firm Elementary Data is being purchased by US enterprise data and integration leader Boomi for roughly $45 million, based on a Monday statement from the buyer.

This marks Boomi's second Israeli startup purchase this year, after taking Lunar.dev last July for an undisclosed amount and acquiring Rivery in December 2024 for around $100 million.

Elementary Data builds a platform that tracks data and processing workflows while adding quality checks, usage oversight, and an organizational information catalog. Data teams rely on it to detect and resolve problems before they affect reports, models, or AI agents.

Founded in August 2021 by CEO Maayan Shalom and CTO Or Avidov, who heads product, both Unit 8200 veterans. Shalom previously led cyber incident response at Sygnia, while Avidov was an engineering manager at Singular.

Total funding reached about $8.5m. by late 2022 from backers including TLV Partners, Cowboy Ventures, Y Combinator, and angels, supporting a team of 17 in Israel. Under the deal, staff will continue at Boomi, which intends to grow its local presence.

Elementary started with an open-source workflow tool and released Elementary Cloud for enterprises in 2024. Clients include Fiverr and Patagonia. The technology serves over 1,500 data teams, with the open-source version seeing more than 1.1 million monthly downloads and a community of roughly 4,000. Both the commercial offering and open-source project will remain active inside Boomi.

The product watches data flows and flags anomalies in freshness, volume, and quality. It follows data paths and changes down to individual columns, helping teams trace failure sources and affected systems. This supports AI agents in making decisions that avoid broad business errors.

Beyond monitoring, Elementary gathers data definitions, ownership details, and quality metrics into one catalog. An MCP server lets AI tools access this data to understand meaning and reliability. Its AI agents generate tests, rank issues, and handle policy and performance tasks automatically. Joining Boomi will extend data reliability controls across storage and movement between apps and systems.

'We are just at the beginning of the road'

Maayan Shalom, CEO and co-founder: "When AI agents act quickly on data, organizations depend on its reliability. Boomi's global reach and network of over 800 partners will help make trusted data standard in the AI age. We are just at the beginning of the road."

Steve Lucas, Boomi chairman and CEO: "Trusted artificial intelligence starts with trusted data. Elementary brings monitoring, quality control, and usage tools to our platform. These ensure AI systems and agents run on data suitable for organizational decisions and actions while clarifying data origins and meaning."
