Ukraine is deploying its latest mid-range drones against vital bridges that support Russian operations from the south, with videos suggesting considerable impact from these assaults.

The 1st Separate Assault Regiment reported conducting operations in the past week targeting the Armyansk, Henichesk, and Chonhar zones, which serve as key passages from Crimea to the southern battlefield.

These bridges, located 50 to 75 miles behind the front, play a crucial role in supplying Russian forces in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson.

Over recent days, the regiment shared FPV drone videos depicting repeated strikes on the bridge surfaces from above. Some missions involved collaboration with the 475th Assault Regiment and Ukraine's Alpha unit from the Security Service.

The sole route for transporting Russian troops, munitions, and fuel out of occupied Crimea came under assault, the unit stated.

They employed the FirePoint FP-2 drone, spanning 18 feet with a 220-pound bomb load, and the Hippo, with a 7.5-foot wingspan carrying 77 pounds of thermobaric material plus 88 pounds of explosives.

Footage captured scenes of burning bridges and areas with major structural impairment. Business Insider did not confirm the videos independently.

Regional pro-Russian officials acknowledged the incidents. Kherson's appointed governor Vladimir Saldo noted on Thursday that Armyansk bridges faced over 45 drone strikes.

Preliminary assessments indicate some harm. Specialists are reviewing and evaluating the structures, Saldo posted.

Earlier on Tuesday, he mentioned around 20 drone hits on the Chonhar bridge, leading to its closure.

His administration then recommended other routes and paused civilian bus services due to fuel shortages.

These mid-range drones represent an emerging capability for Ukraine, enabling strikes on rear positions and interference with supply chains. Previously, such bridge damage relied on special operations or systems like HIMARS.

The drones offer greater range and impact than standard quadcopters yet cost less than long-range models used against industrial targets.
