Tesla presented updated statistics highlighting advancement in its Robotaxi service during the second quarter earnings discussion.

Executives including CEO Elon Musk noted ongoing growth in the autonomous ride hailing network through added cities and increased unsupervised trips.

Robotaxi began in June 2025 using a limited number of Model Y vehicles with safety monitors present and the expansion has proceeded at a measured pace compared to earlier forecasts.

Musk had projected coverage for half the US population by late 2025 subject to approvals from regulators.

The service now covers seven major US areas with Orlando and Tampa in Florida added just before the earnings report.

Details on total fleet size paid trips intervention frequency and per ride finances remain undisclosed.

Musk emphasized safety as the primary limit on how quickly the service can scale.

"If we injure even one person it will be worldwide headline news and regulators will immediately clamp down on our activities" he said. "We are going as fast as humanly possible in scaling Robotaxi but while trying to ensure that we do not harm anyone at all and ideally do not even run over a pet."

The following seven figures illustrate the current state of Robotaxi progress.

1. Nearly 2.5 million total paid miles

According to the shareholder presentation Robotaxi accumulated close to 2.5 million paid miles through the end of the second quarter.

These miles include journeys with a safety monitor on board. In the San Francisco Bay Area that monitor stays in the drivers seat.

2. More than 380000 unsupervised miles

Ashok Elluswamy Tesla vice president of AI reported more than 380000 unsupervised miles completed in six cities across two states.

This stands as one of the clearer indicators of progress on driverless operations though the exact number of vehicles running without monitors has not been shared.

By comparison Alphabets Waymo has logged over 200 million fully autonomous rider only miles.

3. More than 10 percent weekly mileage growth

Musk noted weekly miles driven have grown more than 10 percent. Elluswamy added that unsupervised mileage has risen at double digit rates each week since January.

"We expect to continue growing at such a large rate through the rest of this year" Elluswamy stated.

4. Seven US metropolitan regions

Robotaxi now operates in seven US markets Austin Dallas Houston Miami Orlando Tampa and the San Francisco Bay Area.

All locations except the Bay Area are increasing unsupervised rides according to the shareholder materials.

Preparations are also underway for Phoenix and Las Vegas. Waymo currently serves 11 US regions.

5. Zero notable incidents from Robotaxi

Elluswamy confirmed zero notable incidents across the more than 380000 unsupervised miles. Any known events involved other drivers striking parked Teslas.

The company has notified federal regulators of two low speed crashes that took place after a teleoperator took control both with a monitor present.

Elluswamy described the record as strong confirmation of Teslas overall AI strategy.

6. More than 125000 Cybercabs in manufacturing capacity

Tesla established annual production capacity exceeding 125000 Cybercabs at Gigafactory Texas with assembly starting in the second quarter.

For context Zoox reports capacity for more than 10000 purpose built robotaxis annually at full scale while Waymo indicates its Arizona facility can produce tens of thousands at peak output.

The Tesla figure reflects installed capacity rather than current output rates which were not specified.

Musk noted the Cybercab must gather additional chassis specific driving data before wider deployment.

Employees have begun taking autonomous rides in the vehicle at the factory.

7. Nearly 1.5 million paid FSD customers

Tesla counted 1.48 million paying Full Self Driving subscribers representing a 56 percent increase from the prior year.

While FSD on personal vehicles still requires constant human oversight Tesla has long stated the technology will eventually operate without driver monitoring.
