The initial key choice involved travel from Cleveland to Orlando.

We paid $1,451 for Frontier Airlines tickets covering our group of five. Driving was an option but would have required roughly 15.5 hours each direction, resulting in the loss of two entire vacation days spent in transit.

For our needs, the flight expense was justified to maximize park time.

We added $84 for six-day parking at Cleveland Hopkins Airport and opted against a rental car in Orlando, relying on Uber for any necessary travel.

Nearly $5,000 went toward Universal lodging and admission passes

The largest single outlay was $4,948 covering our Universal hotel and four-day park-to-park tickets.

We chose Universal's Terra Luna Resort, a newer on-site property with a space theme shared by its companion Stella Nova.

The prime benefit was proximity to Epic Universe, allowing quick access during our extended visit there.

Guests at Terra Luna enjoy early park entry, granting one hour of priority access to Epic Universe daily. The free shuttle reached the park in under five minutes with frequent departures.

Two rooms proved worthwhile despite added expense

Terra Luna provides only standard rooms for up to four guests, so our group of five required two separate rooms.

Although the double-room cost seemed high initially, it delivered extra room, privacy, and connecting doors that kept the family connected.

Skipping Express Pass still allowed full access to Epic Universe rides

The four-day tickets covered Epic Universe along with Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

We considered Express Passes beforehand but managed every attraction without them.

Four days provided scheduling flexibility to target shorter lines, resulting in rides on every Epic attraction with a maximum wait of 45 minutes even during peak July crowds.

One Disney day added nearly $1,200 to the total

We included a single day at Disney's Hollywood Studios for $926 in tickets.

With limited time there, we bought Lightning Lane passes for $250 to secure timed entry for Rise of the Resistance plus up to three additional attractions.

This approach succeeded for most desired rides except Slinky Dog Dash, which closed temporarily and did not reopen.

Food costs reached $767 with selective savings applied

We chose not to limit dining since sampling themed meals and treats forms part of the park experience.

Our $767 food and beverage spend included stops at Cowfish, Toadstool Cafe, The Three Broomsticks, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater, Krusty Burger, Lard Lad, Cafe L'air De La Sirene, and Le Gobelet Noir.

Ordering children's meals when suitable helped control portions and prices.

Souvenir purchases stayed minimal

Souvenir spending totaled just $37 for three chocolate frogs for the children.

The kids used their own savings for additional items such as shirts, snacks, and plush toys.

Credit card rewards and meal credits reduced costs by nearly $2,500

Although the trip totaled $8,620, credit card points returned $1,920 in travel credits, lowering our net out-of-pocket amount to roughly $6,700.

A booking promotion supplied each room with a $300 Universal dining credit for a combined $600 toward hotel meals.

The credit simplified breakfasts and other hotel dining while keeping food expenses in check.

The trip carried a high price tag yet delivered lasting value

An $8,620 vacation represents a major investment, but the family memories created justified the outlay.

Strategic use of rewards, targeted savings, and focus on priority experiences allowed us to enjoy the desired Orlando trip without excess spending while building moments our family will treasure for years.
