Growing up with Gordon Ramsay's television shows left me eager to visit one of his establishments and expect top-tier quality.

During a July 2025 getaway to Atlantic City, New Jersey, my companion and I chose his steakhouse inside Harrah's Resort for an evening meal.

This marked my initial visit to the city and to any Ramsay restaurant. The chain operates seven spots across Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Vancouver, Baltimore, Kansas City, Westlake in Louisiana, and Elizabeth in Indiana.

Celebrity branding raises the bar, and we departed satisfied overall, even if the bill left us lighter in the wallet.

Here is how our evening unfolded at Gordon Ramsay Steak in Atlantic City.

We arrived right on time for our dinner reservation.

A reservation secured roughly one week ahead secured our 7 p.m. slot on a Wednesday. Midweek timing and advance booking made securing a table for two straightforward at peak hours.

The venue sits one level above the casino floor, where bright neon signs immediately caught attention, including the restaurant name, an image of Ramsay honing knives, and a beef cut diagram.

If the neon signs were not enough to tip us off, there was also a video of Ramsay inviting guests into the restaurant.

A screen featured Ramsay describing the venue and highlighting items such as the prix fixe option.

As devoted viewers of his programs, we appreciated this personal element that strengthened the link to the chef himself.

Following a brief wait, a hostess guided us to our table in the dining area.

Inside, we were greeted by an accent wall painted with a Union Jack that led to the main dining room.

Born in Scotland and raised in England, Ramsay infuses many of his spots with British touches.

We enjoyed how the primary dining space stood apart from the resort bustle, offering a more secluded atmosphere than other casino-floor eateries we tried that week.

The dining room had a mix of regular chairs, high-backed chairs, and booths.

Our booth provided ample space for two guests to relax comfortably.

The room blended cozy and contemporary vibes with earthy greens and blues accented by red details. Leather seating and table candles created a romantic mood, yet overhead lights ensured menus remained easy to read.

The place settings had a touch of elegance.

Each setting included a cloth napkin, two forks, and a butter knife, with a steak knife added once entrees were chosen.

Our server started us off with two house rolls and butter.

The warm rolls carried a light salt sprinkle, and the butter spread smoothly.

Slightly sweet bread paired with mild butter offered a welcome starter while we awaited the main courses.

We consulted with our waiter on the most popular appetizers. He recommended the smoked wagyu beef tartare.

The server noted that the beef tartare priced at 29.99 received extra smoke for deeper taste. As an enthusiast of this classic French preparation, I ordered it to compare with prior versions.

The egg yolk was creamy, and the beef tartare itself was packed with flavor.

Prepared with lemon zest, red onion, capers, and a quail egg yolk, the dish arrived alongside Yukon Gold potato chips.

This ranked among the finest beef tartares I have sampled, including multiple trips to Paris. High-quality beef delivered balanced salt and savory notes with clear smoke influence.

Still, the 30-dollar price seemed high for the portion size suitable for two. Larger parties might find it insufficient. The chips supplied nice crunch yet felt mismatched; toasted bread would have suited better.

For our second course, we split the wedge salad.

The market wedge salad at 17.99 arrived with striking presentation. Two baby iceberg heads sat under creamy Stilton blue cheese dressing and red onion slices, with dressing lightly spread beneath on the plate.

The salad was a bold yet refreshing take on the classic wedge salad.

Crisp iceberg contrasted nicely with smoky applewood bacon, while heirloom tomato slices and English cucumber added freshness. Tangy dressing unified the elements.

Blue cheese lovers should consider this option.

My friend ordered the branzino as her main dish.

The pan-seared branzino at 58.99 came with rock shrimp, artichokes, kalamata olives, shaved fennel, sundried tomatoes, and lemon broth.

Presentation stood out. Lighter than some entrees, it suited her after the earlier bread, tartare, and rich salad.

The branzino appeared to be heavily inspired by Mediterranean dishes.

Although British classics like beef Wellington appear on the menu, other influences added variety.

The branzino carried Mediterranean notes through olives, artichokes, and tomatoes that provided depth without heaviness. Crispy skin protected tender flesh, and the base resembled a flavorful stew.

This steak was supremely tender, but not what I expected from a wagyu cut.

While no steak authority, I noted less marbling than anticipated upon slicing.

Flavor and texture still impressed. Pepper seasoning stood out, and the seared exterior yielded to buttery interior.
