The Jusidman family philanthropic foundation from Mexico has committed NIS 200 million toward creating the Jusidman Rehabilitation Hospital at Sde Dov, set to become the country's premier rehabilitation facility.

The project represents a total investment nearing 390 million dollars and will stand as Israel's foremost rehabilitation hospital located in Tel Aviv.

This gift embodies a focused philanthropic approach and forms a key element of the hope initiative directed by the Tel Aviv Foundation during its 50th anniversary. The contribution covers a major share of construction expenses and helped advance the entire endeavor. The new hospital ranks as a flagship effort within the city's investment plans and counts among Israel's top strategic health projects.

The pledge adds to recent major gifts supporting Israeli hospitals. Shaare Zedek recently secured 200 million dollars from WhatsApp founder Jan Koum for a new 24-story tower with 800 beds, prompting a name change to Koum Shaare Zedek. Anat and Shmuel Harlap gave 180 million dollars to Beilinson Hospital for the Tower of Hope, due to open in early 2027. Susan and Henry Samueli contributed NIS 120 million for a research and development institute there.

Further support includes 100 million dollars from Canadian-Israeli billionaire Sylvan Adams following a missile strike on Soroka Hospital during the 12-Day War, plus 10 million dollars for the Sheba Artificial Intelligence Center.

Reuth Rehabilitation Hospital, led by Dr. Orit Stein Reisner, will move from Yad Eliyahu to the new Sde Dov campus. Completion is anticipated in roughly six years and promises major advances in urban planning, rehabilitation services, and geriatric care. Facilities will feature around 540 beds, a trauma clinic, expanded day-hospital rehabilitation programs, modern treatment areas, an imaging institute, hydrotherapy pool, specialized clinics, a research greenhouse, and green zones for patients and families. A public housing complex with about 250 units will adjoin the site.

Marking its 65th year, Reuth operates as a university-affiliated rehabilitation hospital linked to Tel Aviv University's Sackler Faculty of Medicine and functions under the Reuth Association headed by Ido Sharir. It maintains strong standing for excellence in rehabilitation and geriatrics as a public-independent institution offering orthopedic, neurological, head-injury, geriatric, and respiratory rehabilitation divisions along with extensive clinics and Israel's largest day-hospitalization program plus a post-trauma center aiding October 7th and war victims.

Igal Jusidman, speaking for the family foundation, noted that rehabilitation medicine long lacked adequate focus in Israel's health system until recent conflicts underscored its vital role in restoring dignity and independence. The new hospital allows the family to aid recovery for those injured defending the country by building a world-class center that honors their service and supports healing.

Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai emphasized that the project bolsters national rehabilitation capacity and reflects the city's commitment to public health needs amid high demand from war wounded and trauma survivors.

Tel Aviv Foundation CEO Dr. Hila Oren highlighted how strategic giving turns municipal goals into tangible improvements that enhance resilience across the city and nation.

Reuth Association Chairman Prof. Nachman Ash described the partnership with the municipality and foundation as essential for advancing rehabilitation nationwide, especially given rising demand and population aging. The facility already treats patients from across the country, and the donation will expand capacity while upgrading conditions, with ongoing coordination alongside health and finance ministries for government backing.
