Late-night comedians playfully extended invitations to Stephen Colbert to helm their shows after his own program wraps up.

On Monday's taping of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," the host gathered Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, John Oliver, and Seth Meyers. They discussed the evolving landscape of late-night television, backlash from President Donald Trump, and Colbert's upcoming exit from CBS on May 21.

Colbert described the end as a "bummer," expressing his desire to continue the show with his dedicated crew. He joked, "Now I can be a guest on all your shows."

Kimmel responded instantly: "You can host my show."

When Colbert asked about filling in on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" over the summer, Kimmel insisted he could do it all year long. Fallon added that Colbert was welcome on his show "anytime you want to go on."

Colbert pressed Fallon on the best timing for a substitute slot, but Fallon sidestepped with humor: "Enjoy a little time off."

CBS revealed in July that "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" would conclude in May, wrapping up more than three decades on the air.

The network attributed the move to financial considerations. The announcement followed Colbert's on-air remark about CBS paying a $16 million settlement to Trump in a lawsuit alleging "deceptive editing" during a "60 Minutes" broadcast.

Colbert's departure unfolds against a tough year for late-night programming.

"Jimmy Kimmel Live!" went off air for roughly a week in September after Kimmel's comments on the shooting of political activist Charlie Kirk provoked the Trump administration. The show returned amid widespread support from Hollywood stars and political figures.

In April, Trump and first lady Melania Trump condemned Kimmel for joking that Melania had a "glow like an expectant widow," renewing calls for his suspension.
