It's a union love story, baby.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift made their marriage official in a private ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday. Admirers worldwide rushed to offer congratulations to the high-profile pair, among them the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations. The AFL-CIO stands as the largest federation of unions in the United States.

Swift belongs to the American Federation of Musicians and SAG-AFTRA, whereas Kelce is part of the NFL Players Association.

"It's better in a union," the AFL-CIO posted on X. "Congrats to @The_AFM and @sagaftra member @taylorswift13 and @NFLPA member @tkelce on their marriage!"

In another X post, the AFL-CIO noted that Madison Square Garden "is a completely union venue."

Swift has backed unions previously, notably during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and WGA strike. As major studios and streamers held out against union requests, Swift collaborated with SAG-AFTRA to obtain an interim agreement for her concert film, "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour."

She is not entirely consistent in this stance, however. In July of that year, Unite Here Local 11, representing 32,000 hospitality workers, called on Swift to cancel her Los Angeles concerts in solidarity with their labor action. She declined to do so.

The star-studded wedding brought hundreds of celebrities to New York City during an intense heat wave. Photographers captured Jason Sudeikis, Hugh Grant, Benson Boone, Ethan Hawke, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Alba, and others arriving at the location.

Adam Sandler, a close friend of the couple, led the ceremony, according to the AP. Austin Swift acted as his sister's Man of Honor, and Jason Kelce served as his brother's Best Man. For their vows, the pair wore attire from Christian Dior's creative director, Jonathan Anderson, along with pieces from Cartier.

Although many specifics remained private, TMZ indicated that over 1,000 guests were anticipated, with the couple spending millions to secure Madison Square Garden for multiple days. A City Hall spokesperson informed CBS News that a permit was submitted to shut down streets around the venue from July 2 to July 4.

The pair, engaged in August 2025 following two years together, contributed $26 million to 20 local and national charities before the event. Swift's publicist explained the gifts were connected to locations significant to their lives, such as Rhode Island and New York City. One beneficiary, Harvesters - The Community Food Network, announced that Swift and Kelce gave $1 million to its food bank via an Instagram post.

"We'd like to send a heartfelt thank you to @taylorswift and @killatrav for their very generous donation to our food bank just prior to their big wedding day," the nonprofit stated. "The two of them have incredibly big hearts and have shown up to support not only us but many charities over the years."
