Lance Bass, 47, notes that the hour before his twins go to sleep ranks as his top daily highlight as a parent.

In a conversation with Business Insider, Bass explained that steady routines prove essential for maintaining orderly home life amid his packed agenda.

"Our evening schedule stands out as the key element. It wraps up their day in a familiar pattern. Around 7 o'clock everything powers down. Dinner is finished, then we clean our teeth, slip into pajamas, and head to their bedroom," he explained.

"That pre-bedtime stretch in their room, where we play games or enjoy books, represents my favorite moment each day," he added.

Bass and his husband Michael Turchin, wed since 2014, welcomed their son and daughter via surrogate in October 2021. The pair are now four years old.

The former NSYNC performer emphasized building a strong reading habit as a top family goal.

"I aim to spark a real passion for books in them, and it has taken hold. They request four or five different stories every night," Bass shared.

Besides reading, Bass works to establish a journaling practice with his children.

"Before sleep we note three items we feel thankful for, along with amusing moments and any parts of the day that fell short," Bass described.

Recalling daily events this way helps the kids reflect and calm down ahead of bedtime, according to Bass.

"It seems to steady them nicely and eases them toward sleep," he said.

Both reading and journaling connect to various advantages, including better literacy and vocabulary growth plus greater self-reflection and expression.

Clinical psychologist Carla Marie Manly earlier noted to Business Insider that choosing a fixed daily slot for journaling supports habit formation.

"In disagreements you sometimes overstep, and an apology helps rather than showing them you dig in harder," Hudson observed. "Approaching your kids to admit you could have managed things differently or made a mistake or failed to trust them builds a tighter bond."
