Israeli firm Bigger Picture is revitalizing the cinema industry through artificial intelligence and innovative technology, turning theaters into hubs that provide more than films and refreshments.

According to Amit Bohensky, founder and chairman at Bigger Picture, newer generations seek venues for socializing. Following the pandemic and the growth of streaming services, young individuals have fewer incentives to go out. They now pursue activities that foster genuine connections with others, he shared with The Jerusalem Post.

Bohensky notes that cinemas strive to build this social atmosphere beyond the screening itself, yet they miss the tools needed for thorough analysis of requirements to deliver such experiences.

Enhancing Cinema Revenue Streams

Cinemas are often located in shopping centers and busy areas, sometimes featuring bars for post-movie gatherings. However, they lack systems to build digital customer profiles and tailor services based on past transactions, which could boost their profit margins significantly, Bohensky highlighted.

This realization led Bigger Picture to develop a comprehensive platform for venues. It enables touchless interactions starting from parking and supports extensive data analysis of patrons.

The platform provides clients with barcodes, apps, or similar identifiers to recognize them, streamlining purchases and expanding service options, as Bohensky described.

Leveraging AI for Optimal Cinema Operations

Bohensky detailed how Bigger Picture employs AI not just for customer insights but also for show data and competitor analysis to devise scheduling that maximizes earnings and aims for full houses at most screenings.

Occasionally, the rationale behind the model's slot assignments for films is unclear. Manual calculations for scheduling efficiency prove inefficient, whereas the AI provides explanations for decisions and learns from errors in real time, he noted.

This capability stands as their key advantage and distinctive offering. The ability to review all aspects and decide via an AI model is unique to their solutions, Bohensky asserted.

Moreover, the firm delivers the platform without needing on-site servers and supplies IT assistance for everything from app creation to fixing software issues on devices.

By consolidating all IT requirements for clients, they ensure smooth visits for movie enthusiasts while generating additional interaction points that improve understanding of customer preferences, he added.
