The Israel Innovation Authority together with the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry revealed in mid-October their joint commitment of NIS 25 million toward initiatives that train senior female leaders in high-tech, incorporate more women into technology fields, assist those reentering after extended absences, and shrink the pay disparity between genders in the sector.

This effort addresses longstanding imbalances in the high-tech realm regarding both the presence of women in technical and executive positions and their earnings.

The resources will back efforts focused on five key areas pinpointed by the authorities: promoting women to top management in high-tech, incorporating qualified women into advanced technology sectors, facilitating returns for seasoned professionals, aiding progression post-childbirth leave, and fostering equality inside tech firms.

Including contributions from private entities, this funding will go toward 15 specific programs aimed at overcoming obstacles for women in Israel's high-tech landscape.

Organizations Highlight Major Pay and Representation Disparities in High-Tech

According to the IIA and the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry, women in high-tech average around NIS 23,000 monthly while men average about NIS 33,000. This creates a monthly difference of roughly NIS 10,200, meaning men's pay is approximately 44 percent higher. Notable differences appear across roles such as research and development, administrative staff, and leadership positions.

"With rising life expectancy and shifts in the job market, we must ready ourselves for an employment environment that is varied and inclusive for every age group," stated Labor and Social Affairs Ministry Director-General Robi Shemesh. "Participation in the workforce for both genders starts dropping from age 50 onward, and biases related to age, even those held internally, form a major hurdle to staying in high-quality jobs."

"These fresh programs align with this strategy to let women leverage their expertise, talents, and professional know-how, rejoin the workforce, and move into significant roles in high-skill industries," Shemesh continued.
