Teleflex EzPlaz is freeze-dried plasma derived from donated blood. It stores for months without cold temperatures and mixes with sterile water when needed for patients. The approval gives medics an authorized portable method to supply a key element that supports clotting during hemorrhage.

Marine Corps officials stated that such products simplify storage and movement for forces spread across remote sites. The service is reshaping its structure for future conflicts that may place small teams far from advanced care.

The clearance follows earlier emergency use of similar French and Swiss plasma versions for overseas troops. Those options last two years yet arrive in glass containers. EzPlaz uses a flexible plastic pouch that fits easily into crowded medical packs carried by field personnel.

FDA acting director Karim Mikhail noted that patients facing critical blood loss in combat areas, disaster zones, or isolated regions could receive plasma sooner when standard frozen supplies are absent. The decision targets an unmet need for military members and others distant from hospital settings.

Production timelines and scaling for military buyers remain uncertain at this stage.
