Katie Zacharia served just five days as White House press secretary before stepping down, sparking a wave of online jokes about her departure.

Anthony Scaramucci knows the feeling well. His own short role as communications director in 2017 turned into a cultural reference point, with the term Scaramucci or Mooch now used to gauge fleeting political jobs.

Scaramucci stayed in the position for about 10 days, or six if excluding the gap after the announcement, until he was dismissed by Trump.

He tracked Zacharia's experience and shared a series of posts that began with support and shifted to practical suggestions.

Early on Thursday he predicted she would succeed in the role.

That optimism faded quickly, and by Friday he commented on her exit.

Scaramucci also sent direct advice to Zacharia in one post, urging her to ignore media coverage and spend time with family while noting the universe had done her a favor.

At the same time, social media users started calculating her time in office using multiples of Scaramuccis and floated the idea of her becoming the new standard for short stays.

Job experts often advise staying at least a year to avoid signaling instability to future employers, though several brief roles do not always reveal the full picture on a resume.

Consultants have noted that rapid moves paired with added duties and skill growth can enhance a resume by showing drive and flexibility instead of unreliability.

Zacharia took over from Karoline Leavitt, who departed in August to focus on her children. She marked the sixth press secretary in Trump's two terms and the fourth to leave in under a year.

Alongside career tips, a LinkedIn image of Zacharia marked with the open to work banner spread widely on X after first appearing on the Democrats' account.

The green banner remains a hot topic on the site, with some recruiters calling it a warning sign of desperation while data shows users with the public tag get far more recruiter messages.
